I fell into a strange sleep in my chair. It was like I wasn’t really sleeping because my dream was exactly the same as being awake except that everything was darker and greener.
I couldn’t breath properly, my lunge felt about half their normal size. My head hurt, my limbs felt heavy, I tried to get up but couldn’t carry my own weight. The fire wasn’t on but it was making a loud roaring noise like a huge stream of hot air was flooding out of it.

« Judi Alston on Inside: A Journal of Dreams
"Be still and you will travel great distances."
Inside is a story about a man who is alone in his house with his thoughts, dreams and brief observations. A loose narrative can be followed in both a linear and non-linear way. You can read through clicking on links as you go or you can jump about and delve in where you want. Flashes of dreams tell short fragmented stories of the character's life, giving an insight into his mind and situation. The narrative journeys through a hazed landscape of pictures, objects, moving images, text and sound - echoing the feel of a dream in itself. Without contact to the outside world (apart from a ringing telephone with no one on the end and a workman trying to fix his faulty gas fire) he is alone and still for six weeks. The five elements drag the protagonist through an emotional journey as he spins through a cycle of fire, earth, metal, water and air, the quality of each element bringing with it recollections of childhood, friends, family and places.
The process of Inside grew from an idea around the effects of carbon monoxide poisoning, hidden fumes that eat away at you making you feel lethargic, spaced out and sleepy. That spawned an idea - use it as a project to experiment creatively with new media (...)
Inside has been a project of being still but journeying far... »
