Great Blankness est la vitrine de l'artiste, écrivain et professeur Paul Zelevansky, résidant actuellement à Pittsburgh. Depuis 2004, Zelevansky y présente ses petites animations mélangeant dessin, collage, vidéo, texte et musique. L'esthétique adoptée par Zelevansky s'inspire largement du postmodernisme, du Pop Art, de la culture punk et des illustrations commerciales des années 1950, créant des juxtapositions surprenantes. Sur Great Blankness, on retrouve en page d'accueil la série d'oeuvres en cours de Zelevansky, réunies sous le thème "Songs of love and rage" (2010-2011). En date du 12 avril 2011, cette série comprenait neuf vidéos présentant l'artiste en train de chanter dans différentes circonstances, portant un faux nez, une fausse moustache, de fausses lunettes et de faux sourcils. L'internaute doit simplement cliquer sur un des numéros pour activer la vidéo qui lui est associée puis recliquer sur l'écran pour l'interrompre. Sur la droite de l'interface principale, un lien permet d'accéder aux archives du site, présentant six autres séries constituées de 12 à 14 animations chacune. Pour chaque série, Zelevansky propose une section "credits" fournissant la liste des extraits musicaux empruntés, allant de John Cage à The Fugees, en passant par Dean Martin, The Cardigans, Sonic Youth, The Beach Boys, etc. Un second lien, en-dessous de celui menant aux archives, donne quant à lui accès à une section promotionnelle pour 24 IDEAS ABOUT PICTURES, un livre écrit par Zelevansky:

24 IDEAS ABOUT PICTURES is made up of 24 visual/verbal propositions about the grammar, meaning, and metaphysics of pictures. Utilizing a step-by-step structure in which each lesson builds on those that precede it, 24 IDEAS considers what makes pictures--in collusion and competition with words--alternatively powerful and unreliable as representations of reality.
